09 Sep SENEDIA Launches RI-Based Undersea Technology Innovation Center

The Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance (SENEDIA) recently announced the development of the Undersea Technology Innovation Center (UTIC), a Rhode Island-based hub for national undersea technology excellence.  The UTIC will promote advanced learning in the undersea sector and the rapid development, testing, and commercialization of innovative undersea technology for commercial, academic, and defense organizations. 

If you are part of Rhode Island’s undersea technology cluster, let organizers know so they can include you in their compendium of undersea resources.  Email your contact information (name, organization, email, website, phone number) along with a brief description of your organization and your related technology application to undersea@senedia.org.

Earlier this year, the Metropolitan Policy Program of The Brookings Institution reported that Rhode Island’s maritime sector is a true strength of the state’s economy and a competitive advantage.

This center is part of an effort to ensure that Rhode Island remains at the forefront of undersea technology and innovation and will bring together top maritime innovators and suppliers with academic and government leaders in both the commercial and defense sectors.  The UTIC can also give Rhode Island companies a platform to collaborate and showcase their work.

Initial steps are underway to develop a virtual undersea technology innovation center, and planning will be underway soon to establish a physical location.

SENEDIA looks forward to collaborating with and serving all the companies, organizations, academic programs and others that have a role in undersea technology to make this center the leading hub of undersea technology innovation.
